On May 23, the Defense Forces of Ukraine engaged in 202 combat clashes along the frontline, successfully repelling 61 enemy assaults in the Pokrovsk sector.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in an operational update as of 08:00 on Saturday, May 24, Ukrinform reports.
Over the past day, Russian forces launched four missile attacks and 77 air strikes targeting Ukrainian positions and civilian settlements, employing six missiles and dropping 130 guided aerial bombs.
Additionally, the enemy carried out 5,837 attacks, including 130 strikes from multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 2,997 kamikaze drones in its strikes
The Russian army conducted air strikes in Zapsillia (Sumy region), Kupiansk (Kharkiv region), Novopavlivka and Mezhova (Dnipropetrovsk region), Dovha Balka (Donetsk region), Olhivske, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhove, and Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia region), as well as Mykolaivka and Odradokamianka (Kherson region).
Meanwhile, Ukrainian aviation, missile troops, and artillery struck five enemy personnel and equipment concentration points, three artillery systems, and another key Russian target.
In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces attempted to break through defensive lines five times in the areas of Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Kamianka, and Dvorichna but were repelled by Ukrainian forces.

Five Russian attacks were recorded in the Kupiansk sector, where Ukrainian troops successfully repelled assaults near Kolisnykivka, Kruhliakivka, and Zahryzove.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces launched 16 offensives, attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses near Nove, Novomykhailivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, Hrekivka, Yampolivka, and in the direction of Hryhorivka and Bilohorivka.

Four combat clashes were recorded in the Kramatorsk sector, specifically near Kurdiumivka and toward Bila Hora and Predtechyne.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out 21 attacks in the areas of Romanivka, Ozarianivka, Krymske, Druzhba, and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled 61 Russian assaults near Shevchenko Pershe, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, and Andriivka.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Russian forces carried out 30 attacks targeting Novopil, Zelene Pole, Vilne Pole, Bahatyr, Vesele, Burlatske, and the direction of Odradne.

In the Orikhiv sector, the invaders attempted to advance five times near Stepove and toward Novodanylivka but were unsuccessful.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russian troops made two unsuccessful attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian defense forces remain steadfast in the Kursk sector, where Russian forces launched eight air strikes, deployed 12 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 281 shelling attacks, including 13 MLRS strikes. Ukrainian defenders successfully halted 43 Russian assault operations.

No combat engagements were reported in the Siversk and Huliaipole sectors,


and there were no indications of enemy offensive groups forming in the Volyn and Polissia directions.
As earlier reported, the Russian army’s total combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, up to May 24, 2025, have reached approximately 979,830 personnel, with 1,130 losses recorded over the past day.
