US President Donald Trump is open to meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said this on Monday, answering journalists’ questions about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s proposal to hold such a meeting.
“The president (Trump) said he’s open to it – if it comes to that. But he wants both of these leaders and both sides to come to the table together,” the spokeswoman said.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky said he supports the initiative of Turkish President Recep Erdogan to meet with the four of them, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Today, the second round of talks between Ukraine and Russia ended in Istanbul. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. According to him, three points were discussed. The first was a ceasefire. The second was the release of our people, prisoners, and abducted children. The third was a meeting of the leaders.
Following the talks, Umerov said that only an exchange was agreed upon. Namely, they agreed to exchange “all for all” in two categories. The first is seriously ill prisoners of war, and the second is soldiers aged 18 to 25. Ukraine and Russia will also exchange the bodies of fallen soldiers – 6,000 for 6,000.
