Warsaw and Berlin have a special role to play in ensuring the security of NATO’s eastern flank and supporting Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefuhl, according to Ukrinform, citing Wnp.pl.
“Poland and Germany do indeed play a special role in ensuring the security of the eastern flank and supporting Ukraine. This is our shared historical responsibility and a test for our cooperation,” Sikorski emphasized.
According to him, it is necessary to maintain a high level of support for Ukraine and continue supplying weapons, especially in the context of the prospect of the completion of the American aid package.
“We agree that Europe must take greater responsibility for its own security and the future of a sovereign Ukraine,” Sikorski stressed.
As reported by the agency, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said at a press conference following the B9 and Nordic countries summit in Vilnius that one of the key issues on the agenda of the NATO summit, which will take place in three weeks in The Hague, will be the continuation of aid to Ukraine.
