Drone operator Kateryna Troian killed in action

Kateryna Troian, an FPV drone operator and service member of Ukraine’s 82nd Air Assault Brigade, was killed during a combat mission in the Pokrovsk sector.

According to Ukrinform, Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk announced this in a post on Facebook.

“Just a week ago, at the photo exhibition ‘Women Defending Ukraine,’ together with Valerii Zaluzhnyi and fellow parliamentarians, we spoke to representatives of the UK Parliament about the heroism of Kateryna Troian — call sign ‘Meow’ — a soldier of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade and FPV drone operator with more than a thousand successful missions. And today, I learned of her death during a combat assignment,” Kondratiuk wrote.

According to her, Kateryna had decided to join the Air Assault Forces at the age of 32.

“She made it through the battles in the Kursk sector, but not Pokrovsk,” she said.

Kondratiuk also stated that plans had been underway to help Kateryna acquire a new vehicle, as her previous one had been destroyed.

Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Ihor Lutsenko also confirmed news of Kateryna’s death on Facebook.

“Yesterday came the terrible news that the FPV drone operator with blue hair from our Podil community was killed. She served in the Air Assault Forces, survived the Kursk campaign, but didn’t make it this time in Pokrovsk. She was brought to Mechnikov Hospital still alive, but doctors could not save her,” he wrote.
