Vladyslav Horai, a soloist of the Odesa National Opera and a renowned tenor, was killed in the Sumy region while carrying out a volunteer mission.

The Odesa National Opera reported the tragic news on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“A heartbreaking loss has shaken the entire Ukrainian arts community. Today, on June 8, while on a volunteer mission in the Sumy region, the soloist of the Odesa National Opera, world-class tenor, volunteer, father, man of great heart, and Merited Artist of Ukraine — Vladyslav Horai — was killed,” the statement reads.

Colleagues noted that Horai’s voice was known worldwide.

“Vladyslav was not only a talent on stage — he was a model of strength, dignity, and kindness in life. Even in the darkest times, he never stood aside — he helped, he volunteered, he supported others. The Odesa National Opera is in mourning. The stage he brought to life will never sound the same without him,” the post said.
