The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) deployed UAVs specifically developed and manufactured by its own engineers for the special operation known as “Spiderweb,” a source within the SBU has told Ukrinform.
“These drones are a unique development by the Security Service of Ukraine, utilizing advanced technologies that allowed remote control in real time from thousands of kilometers away from Ukrainea’s state border. They were able to bypass enemy countermeasures and effectively strike strategic aviation targets,” the source said.
The drones were created specifically by the SBU to operate deep behind enemy lines and were designed to meet the requirements of the targeted missions, the source added.
On June 1, the SBU conducted a unique special operation that simultaneously struck four air bases across Russia, including Olenya, Ivanovo, Dyagilevo, and Belaya. These bases hosted Russian strategic aircraft frequently involved in missile strikes against Ukrainian cities.
The estimated value of Russian military assets struck in the SBU’s operation exceeds $7 billion.
In total, Russia lost 41 aircraft, including A-50 early warning planes, Tu-95, Tu-22, Tu-160 strategic bombers, as well as an An-12 and an Il-78.
