
In January–April 2025, Ukraine’s exports of goods totaled $13.31 billion—93.1% of the figure recorded during the same period in 2024—reflecting a 6.9% year-on-year decline.
That is according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.
Imports during the same period reached $24.82 billion, or 112.6% of last year’s level, resulting in a negative trade balance of $11.51 billion. The export-import coverage ratio stood at 0.54, down from 0.65 a year earlier.
Ukraine maintained trade relations with 217 countries during the reporting period. Despite the overall decline, the country saw notable export growth in several categories: pharmaceutical products rose by 27.2%, wood and pulp materials by 20.9%, and live animals and related products by 20.8%.
At the same time, Ukraine’s grain exports fell by 24.2% compared to January–April 2024, totaling $2.77 billion.
The main drivers of import growth over the same period were electric machinery, which surged by 69.3% to $3.46 billion; mineral fuels, oil, and refined products, up 23.2% to $3.31 billion; and nuclear reactors, boilers, and related machinery, which rose by 2.8% to $2.05 billion.
As earlier reported, according to the State Customs Service, Ukraine’s total trade turnover for January–May 2025 reached $48.2 billion.
