The first wave of army corps headquarters with support units has already assumed its areas of responsibility.
This was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi at a meeting with journalists, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“The first wave of army corps headquarters with support units has already completed combat coordination and assumed their areas of responsibility and designated troop formations. Next will be the subsequent waves, and so all corps will take up their areas. In this way, we will complete the transition to a corps system and the corresponding restructuring of our defense,” Syrskyi said.
According to him, this reorganization will make it possible, first of all, to save on personnel, that is, to use our military personnel who directly perform combat tasks more rationally. In addition, it will create more effective reserves to be able to conduct active counteroffensive and offensive operations.
“That is, the process is ongoing, it is proceeding practically without delays. Corps commanders have selected their staff. All of them were given the right to select the deputies they want. Thus, we have significantly rejuvenated the operational leadership of the fighting army. The vast majority of corps commanders are former brigade commanders who distinguished themselves on the battlefield. Their deputies and chiefs of staff are the same,” said the commander-in-chief.
He expressed hope that this reorganization would provide new opportunities in terms of the effective use of units, the application of combat experience, strengthening control over brigades, reducing our losses, and increasing the number of enemies destroyed.
As reported, the President approved a plan to transition to a new organizational structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the creation of corps.
