Next week will be an eventful one for Ukraine’s delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), with key debates on two resolutions concerning Ukraine and a planned address by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Ukrainian MP and PACE delegate Yevhenia Kravchuk shared details of the agenda in a comment to Ukrinform.
“President Zelensky’s visit has been announced, though the exact date and time of his address are still being finalized. Alongside the debates and votes on two important resolutions, this session promises to be very productive for Ukraine,” Kravchuk emphasized.
According to the preliminary PACE agenda, Zelensky’s address is scheduled for Thursday.
“On Tuesday, we will have two debates and the adoption of two resolutions concerning Ukraine. The first addresses the legal and human rights aspects of the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine, with Estonian MP Eerik-Niiles Kross serving as rapporteur. Our second resolution focuses on the support and facilitation of the exchange and release of prisoners of war, with our colleague Yelyzaveta Yasko acting as co-rapporteur,” the MP explained in detail.
A separate resolution regarding Ukrainian journalists held in Russian captivity — authored and initiated by Kravchuk herself — is scheduled for adoption during PACE’s autumn session.
“At a June committee meeting in Norway attended by PACE President Theodoros Rousopoulos, we essentially finalized the content. Now, we just need to confirm all names and data before finalizing the document,” Kravchuk explained.
Next week will also feature a side meeting on Ukrainian children and a panel discussion on justice and accountability for Russia’s war of aggression. This discussion will include participation from Oleksandra Romantsova of the Center for Civil Liberties.
The Summer Session of PACE will take place in Strasbourg from June 23 to 27, 2025.
As previously reported, President Zelensky is scheduled to address the PACE session next week.
