Norway’s Defence Ministry has announced that the country will develop and produce uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) in Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Norwegian Defence Ministry on the social media platform X, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In 2025, Norway allocated approximately NOK 6.7 billion in support of the maritime coalition, co-led with the United Kingdom.

“Parts of this funding will be used to develop and produce uncrewed maritime vessels using KDA technology, with production based in Ukraine,” Norwegian Defence Minister Tore Onshuus Sandvik noted.

Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) signed an agreement with a Ukrainian partner to jointly develop and manufacture USVs in Ukraine, using Norwegian technology and expertise.

“Uncrewed vessels play a critical role in helping Ukraine defend its territory and neutralize the Russian navy in the Black Sea,” the ministry added.

A reminder that Norway’s Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, known for producing NASAMS air defense systems, had recently opened its office in Ukraine.
