Russian attack on Sumy region kills three, including 8-year-old boy

A Russian drone attack on the Sumy region overnight claimed three lives—including an eight-year-old boy—and left several homes destroyed or damaged.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Another difficult night for the Sumy region, particularly the Sumy district. Around midnight, Russian forces massively attacked a village in the Verkhni Syrovatska community with combat UAVs. We have information about three dead. Among them is an 8-year-old boy. His body was recovered from the rubble of a destroyed house. A man and a woman were also killed,” he wrote.

Hryhorov confirmed that the victims were all residents of the same street.

Rescue teams pulled three more people from the debris. One of the survivors is in critical condition; all have been hospitalized. The strike caused fires and extensive property damage.

Emergency services, medics, and other responders are on the ground providing assistance to affected residents.

As previously reported, children were injured in a Russian attack on the Putivl community in the Sumy region.
