The United Kingdom will finance the procurement of a wide range of UAVs over the first three years as part of a joint drone production initiative with Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, this was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Facebook.
He recalled that Ukraine and the UK are launching a joint drone production initiative, an agreement reached between President Volodymyr Zelensky and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
According to Umerov, during the first three years of this mega-project, the UK side will finance the procurement of a wide range of Ukrainian drones that will be manufactured in the United Kingdom. This will enable British defense companies to rapidly design and produce state-of-the-art drones on a large scale.
The minister stated that while the war continues, all production will be directed toward meeting the needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. After the war ends, the drones produced will be distributed between the UK and Ukraine.
“This will support the scaling of advanced technologies, increased drone production, and the integration of our defense industries,” Umerov emphasized, expressing gratitude to the UK government, the British Defense Minister, and the British people for their consistent support for decades to come.
As Ukrinform previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer made an additional decision to jointly produce interceptor drones and long-range drones.
