Prosecutors detail war crimes committed by Russian invaders in Hola Prystan

A total of 627 war crimes have been documented in the temporarily occupied Hola Prystan community in Kherson region.

This was reported to Ukrinform by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

“Law enforcement agencies in Kherson region are systematically documenting crimes against national security and war crimes committed in the temporarily occupied territory of Hola Prystan community. Since February 24, 2022, 78 criminal offenses have been initiated concerning collaboration, state treason, and other crimes against the state,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.

So far, 22 individuals have been formally charged, 21 cases have been submitted to court, and eight people have already been convicted.

As for war crimes under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, 627 such offenses have been registered in Hola Prystan community. The most common crimes include: destruction or seizure of property, unlawful imprisonment, infliction of bodily harm, premeditated killings, deportation of civilians.

In these war crime cases, eight people have been charged, with eight indictments sent to court, and one person convicted.

Specifically in the town of Hola Prystan, out of the total, 57 crimes against national security have been documented; 18 individuals have been charged, and seven have already received verdicts. Regarding war crimes in the town, 358 criminal offenses have been recorded, and one person has been convicted so far.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated the right-bank part of Kherson region, including the city of Kherson, in autumn 2022. Parts of the region on the left bank of the Dnipro River remain temporarily occupied by Russian forces.
