Sybiha, Kallas discuss increasing pressure on Russia and advancing Ukraine’s EU accession

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha discussed with European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas the strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia and the promotion of Ukraine’s accession.

He announced this on social media platform X, according to Ukrinform.

“Good meeting with with Kaja Kallas. We discussed the next steps for the EU to increase sanctions pressure on Russia. We expect them to be really strong and hurt Putin’s war budget. We also discussed the need to advance Ukraine’s EU accession,” he said.

The foreign minister stressed that Ukraine has fulfilled all the requirements for opening the first negotiation cluster, and it is unacceptable for one country to obstruct this process. Sybiha added that he appreciates the EU’s strong support, especially in the defense sector, and thanked Kallas for her personal leadership.

As reported by Ukrinform, on Tuesday, June 24, a two-day NATO summit began in The Hague, during which participants will consider three main issues: increasing defense spending, boosting defense production, and continuing assistance to Ukraine.
