A bill aimed at increasing pressure on Russia — including sanctions against countries helping it evade existing restrictions — has a strong chance of being passed in both chambers of the U.S. Congress.

This confidence was expressed in an interview with Ukrinform by American pastor Mark Burns, who is widely referred to as a spiritual advisor to Donald Trump.

He encouraged the Ukrainian brothers and sisters, assuring them: “I’m delighted and confident that we’ll pass a bill.”

The pastor noted that he regularly communicates with members of Congress, particularly on the Republican side of both chambers.

“We have more and more Republican support to create secondary sanctions on Russia that will essentially crush their economy, and they’re already suffering now, as we know, but we want to cut off their ability to continue to wage war and bring them back to the table,” Burns said.

He stressed that the main goal is to deprive Russia of the ability to continue the war and to bring it to the negotiating table.

As Ukrinform previously reported, last week, the U.S. Senate postponed plans to impose sanctions on Russia and its trade partners until July, due to the ongoing war between Iran and Israel.
