U.S. President Donald Trump positively assessed his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier today, adding he wants to also talk to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin about the possibility of ending the war.
The White House chief said this on Wednesday during a press conference following the NATO summit in The Hague, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“He was very nice, actually,” Trump said about the meeting with the Ukrainian leader, noting that the latter “could have not been nicer”, recalling that the two had some “rough times” in the past.
The U.S. President noted he had drawn a conclusion for himself after talks with Zelensky: “I took from the meeting that he would like to this (war – ed.) end.”
At the same time, Trump added that Ukrainians are a brave nation, but a lot of people keep dying in the ongoing war.
“I’m going to speak with Vladimir Putin and see if we can get it ended,” Trump said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Zelensky said after the talks with Trump that the meeting was “long and meaningful.”
