Ukrainian air defenses down 475 of 537 Russian drones, missiles overnight

Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 475 out of 537 Russian drones and missiles launched during the night and early morning of June 29.

That is according to the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.

The large-scale attack began at 19:00 on June 28, involving a coordinated barrage of air threats, including:

477 Shahed-type attack drones and various decoy UAVs launched from multiple directions—Kursk, Shatalovo, Orel, Bryansk, and Millerovo in Russia, as well as Chauda in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. Over 250 were identified as Shahed drones;

  • 4 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles launched from Russia’s Tambov region;
  • 7 Iskander-M and KN-23 ballistic missiles fired from Russia’s Voronezh region and occupied Crimea;
  • 41 Kh-101 and Iskander-K cruise missiles launched from the Saratov, Kursk, and Bryansk regions;
  • 5 Kalibr cruise missiles fired from the Black Sea;
  • 3 S-300 surface-to-air guided missiles from the Kursk region.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces countered the attack using a coordinated defense system that included  aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare, unmanned aerial systems, and mobile fire groups

As of 08:30 on June 29, Ukrainian air defense forces had successfully neutralized 475 enemy aerial targets. Of these, 249 targets were destroyed by direct firepower, while 226 were suppressed or crashed locally due to electronic warfare measures:

  • 211 Shahed-type and other drones shot down by firepower; 225 drones were suppressed or lost control due to electronic countermeasures;
  • 1 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile shot down;
  • 33 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles shot down; 1 lost due to electronic warfare;
  • 4 Kalibr cruise missiles shot down.

Air strikes were recorded in six regions, while debris from downed targets fell in eight locations.
