A unified information platform on persons missing under special circumstances was presented in Kyiv.
According to Ukrinform, the information platform was presented at a press conference in Kyiv by its founders from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The unified information platform on persons missing under special circumstances is an official portal created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to coordinate the search for persons missing under special circumstances and to support their families.
“This site contains as much information as possible that may be useful to the relatives of missing persons. Our goal was to create an information bridge between the authorities searching for missing persons and the families who need information. Our primary task is to establish maximum contact with people so that they feel that they are not alone and that the relevant authorities are doing everything possible to find their relatives,” said Mariana Reva, Director of the Communications Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The information portal contains instructions on how to start a search, file a report, submit DNA samples for identification, obtain an extract from the Unified Register of Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances, and learn about rights and social guarantees.
“We have set up specialized centers for searching for missing persons in every investigative department of the National Police in the regions. This platform will greatly facilitate families’ awareness of the work of such specialized centers and help them quickly find an investigator, criminal proceedings, learn how to submit biological samples for comparison, how and where to obtain results, etc.,” said Khrystyna Podyriako, head of the department for the investigation of crimes committed in conditions of armed conflict at the Main Investigation Department of the National Police.
The platform will provide comprehensive information about who is involved in the search for missing persons, where to go for help, and how to interact with law enforcement, forensic experts, and other agencies.
“This is a living system, within which we have undertaken to explain as much as possible who does what and to provide relevant links. There are algorithms and best practices in every agency involved in searching for missing persons. And we show where family members should go when resolving a particular issue and familiarize themselves with all the functions, practices, and latest news in order to understand what is happening with the search today,” said Artur Dobroserdov, Commissioner for Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances.
The platform is intended to become a coordination center for searching for missing persons and supporting their families, combining the efforts of various state bodies and public organizations.
The platform is available online on the Ministry of Internal Affairs web portal.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Unified Register for the Identification of Bodies (Remains) may begin operating in Ukraine as early as this year.
