Verkhovna Rada will consider the appointment of a new Prime Minister by the end of the current plenary week.

This was announced on television by First Deputy Chairman Oleksandr Kornienko, according to Ukrinform.

“We cannot announce the time and place of the meetings so as not to violate our resolution, but rest assured – personnel decisions will be made by the end of the week,” Kornienko said.

The First Deputy Chairman also commented on the appointment of Yulia Svyrydenko as the new Prime Minister.

“We know that the President, as the political leader of the majority, has made his proposal to nominate Yulia Svyrydenko for the position of Prime Minister. She is currently the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy. This is also a very important step, in my opinion. After all, I am one of those who spend a lot of time in the sphere of regional policies. And I see how the system that Yulia Svyrydenko has built works. This is a large project that involves financing businesses and creating jobs,” Kornienko said.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that Denys Shmyhal will be able to succeed as Minister of Defense.

“We see that Denys Shmyhal has submitted his resignation. And we know that the President, as the person responsible for the constitution and defense capabilities, has already proposed this candidate to Parliament, offering him to join forces and head the Ministry of Defense. I think this is a very good move. Denys Shmyhal is indeed a very powerful manager,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stated.
