In the Donetsk Region this year, 178 hectares of wheat fields were destroyed by fires that broke out as a result of Russian shelling.

The Donetsk Regional Military Administration reported this, according to Ukrinform.

“Since the beginning of the year, there have been 28 fires on agricultural land and agro-industrial facilities, 25 of which were caused by drones, various types of ammunition, or debris from them. The fires in the grain fields of the Donetsk Region have already destroyed 178 hectares of wheat,” the report says.

The Donetsk Regional Military Administration stated that during the harvest, significant crop losses are caused by enemy shelling from the aggressor country, which is destroying the work of Ukrainian farmers and trying to spread panic in society.

Despite this, risking their own lives, farmers and rescuers — employees of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of the Donetsk Region — “set an example of resilience and make every effort to save the grain from fires,” the regional administration emphasized.
