Millions of Ukrainians are encountering russian propaganda every day. It spreads through TV, radio, mass media, social networks and by word of mouth. To defeat the enemy, we must fight it on all fronts. To this end, we have prepared a daily compilation of russian fakes.
Today, the russian information space is still focused on denying russian atrocities and shifting the blame for them onto Ukraine. Russian propagandists are publishing fakes in advance: they are spreading information about incoming “fabricated videos” with civilians killed by russians in Moshchun, and warn about more such “fakes” from other places abandoned by russian army. Understanding the inevitability of exposure of russian war crimes, russia is attempting to avoid responsibility by filling the media space with fakes. There will be more such fakes and denial attempts in the coming weeks.

FAKE: CNN seen only five bodies carried out of Bucha basement, so there weren’t 300 dead

Russian propaganda warps the statements of foreign press once again. The CNN article states that their journalist team witnessed the removal of five bodies from a basement in Bucha. The dead men had their hands tied behind their backs and most of them had several gunshot wounds, not just to the head, but also to the lower limbs. There were many cartridge casings on the floor next to the bodies. Overall, the CNN team had seen body bags of at least 30 people who had been recovered on Sunday, plus an additional nine on Monday, including the five found in the basement. That the journalists didn’t manage to see all the corpses in Bucha does not mean that there isn’t any. The search for the dead and the investigation into the circumstances of their deaths are ongoing.

We see, once again, pathetic russian attempts to deny their crimes. There are no bodies on the video that russians present as “proof”, there’s only destruction. But the video doesn’t show even a single street in its entirety, and it is impossible to judge the state of the city based on a single short video. The bodies were found on the Yablunska street, east of the Voksalna street. The area we see on the video from russian propagandists is in the other part of Bucha.
The New York Times article, using the satellite images from Maxar Technologies, concludes that the bodies appeared on the Yablunska street in the period between March 20 and 21, when the city was completely under russian control.
FAKE: Ukrainian soldiers had blown up a tank with nitric acid in Rubizhne

Serhiy Gayday, the head of Luhansk regional military administration, had informed the public about a nitric acid leak that was caused by the russian artillery strike at 11:36 on April 5. The russian version of events started to appear a couple of hours later. Following their attack on the Sumy chemical plant on March 21, russia is trying to shift responsibility for their actions onto Ukraine.
FAKE: The defenders of Mariupol are attacking foreign ships

At noon, April 5, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine had reported the night shelling of Mariupol by the russian warships. Russians had damaged a civilian vessel sailing under the flag of the Dominican Republic that was docked in the port. As a result, the ship was set on fire, and some members of the crew were wounded. Russia immediately blamed Ukraine for the attack.
By the way, the foreign ships cannot leave the port of Mariupol because the russian fleet does not allow them to leave.
