Ukraine’s An-124-100 aircraft has been modernized and successfully relocated to Germany.

The relevant statement was made by Antonov JSC on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Antonov JSC has completed a challenging multi-year project on the major overhaul of a legendary transport aircraft, An-124-100, serial number 0706. On July 11, 2025, the Ruslan aircraft was safely transferred to Germany,” the report states.

This aircraft was made in 1994, has over 21,000 flight hours, and carried out more than 5,500 flights. Modernization works started in 2021. The goal was to replace the main components that were manufactured in Russia with modern components of Western and Ukrainian origin.

With the start of Russian armed aggression in 2022, modernization works were partially suspended. At that time, the aircraft was in a disassembled state. Antonov’s team managed to resume work and complete the modernization in June 2025.

“The relocation of the Ruslan aircraft has become not just a technical solution, but a symbol of the resilience, professional competence and unity of Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers. The upgraded Ruslan aircraft will continue to fly and serve Ukraine on international routes,” the company added.

Currently, Antonov’s aircraft fleet remains in safe conditions in accordance with internal safety regulations.

A reminder that Antonov JSC received an award from The Heavy Lift Group (THLG) for its contribution to the development of the global market of super-heavy and oversized cargo transportation.
