Over 150 clashes per day: General Staff reports on fiercest battles on frontline

On August 4, 151 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front line, with the most intense battles being near Pokrovsk and Lyman.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared on Facebook the update on the frontline situation as of 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5.

The Russian army launched three ballistic missile strikes and 72 air strikes, fired five missiles, and dropped 129 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, the Russians fired 6,050 rounds, including 76 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 3,925 drones to attack Ukrainian positions.

Russian troops carried out air strikes on the areas of Arkhypivka in the Chernihiv Region, Dobropillia and Ivanopil in the Donetsk Region, Bilohiria, Uspenivka, and Malokaterynivka in the Zaporizhzhia Region, and Olhivka in the Kherson Region.

The Air Force, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck seven areas where personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated, as well as a radar station and one important object belonging to the invaders.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 Russian attacks. The enemy carried out 14 air strikes, using 26 guided bombs, and carried out 417 shelling attacks, six of which were with multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, the Russian army made nine attempts to break through the defense lines near Vovchansk, Krasne Pershe, Fyholivka, and toward Kozacha Lopan, Hoptivka, and Kolodiazne.

Nine enemy attacks took place in the Kupiansk sector. Defense forces repelled Russian assaults in the areas of Holubivka, Zahryzove, and Lozova.

In the Lyman sector, Russian troops attacked 28 times, trying to break through the Ukrainian defense near the settlements of Hrekivka, Myrne, Kolodiazi, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and toward Dronivka, Hryhorivka, and Serebrianka.

In the Siversk sector, the Russians made nine attempts to advance in the areas of Hryhorivka, Verkhniokamianske, and Vyimka.

Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the Chasiv Yar area in the Kramatorsk sector.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out six attacks in the areas of Toretsk, Romanivka, and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Defense Forces stopped 45 Russian army assaults in the areas of the settlements of Poltavka, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Sukhetske, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoukrainka, and Zelenyi Kut.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Russians carried out 18 attacks near Zelene Pole, Voskresenka, Zelenyi Hai, Piddubne, Myrne, Temyrivka, and Maliivka.

In the Huliaipole sector, the invaders made one attempt to break through the Ukrainian defense in the Malynivka area.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian troops made one attempt to attack the positions of the Defense Forces toward Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy made five unsuccessful attempts to attack the positions of Ukrainian units.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of the enemy offensive groups’ formation were detected.

Ukrinform reported that the total combat losses of Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, from February 24, 2022, to August 5, 2025, amount to about 1,058,260 people, including 1,120 people over the past day.
