The Ukrainian drone Bagnet has been specifically designed to intercept enemy UAVs such as the Shahed, taking into account their increased speed from 200 km/h to 250 km/h.

Developers of the interceptor drone shared details with Ukrinform during a closed event.

“The Bagnet was developed in response to the speed of Shahed drones, which was now increased from 200 km/h to 250 km/h, as well as their maneuverability during the final approach phase when the interceptor engages. It’s a specialized product for countering Shaheds and Geran drones,” said Kyrylo Andrusiak, co-owner of a drone manufacturing company.

He noted that development of the interceptor drone took over a year. Bagnet can operate both in automatic targeting mode and under manual control. Serial production of the interceptors is currently being set up in Ukraine, with around five companies involved in their manufacture.

“In addition to mass production, a crucial element is training mobile fire teams that will deploy these interceptor drones,” Andrusiak said.

Earlier reports said that Ukrainian interceptor drones were already being used to repel aerial attacks.

According to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Ukraine has interceptors capable of engaging jet-powered UAVs like the Shahed.
