Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 214 artists and 108 Ukrainian and foreign media professionals have been killed.

This data comes from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, as reported by Ukrinform.

“Since the beginning of Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the war has claimed the lives of 214 artists and 108 Ukrainian and foreign media professionals. These figures not only show the scale of the losses but also remind us of the tragic pages of our history. Just as the Stalinist regime eliminated a generation of Ukrainian artists in the 1920s and early 1930s, so Russia is now deliberately eliminating Ukraine’s cultural elite,” the ministry stated.
