The Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has arrested a former Pension Fund employee who was collecting info for a missile strike on industrial infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia at the request of Russian intelligence.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the SSU.
According to the case file, the enemy was targeting production facilities and power substations that supply factories in Zaporizhzhia.
The woman attracted the attention of the Russians through anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels.
To carry out her hostile tasks, she scouted the area, trying to identify industrial and energy facilities.
In addition, she obtained the necessary intelligence from an IT engineer she knew who worked in the machine industry.
It has been established that the suspect coordinated her actions with a Russian GRU personnel officer via an anonymous chat in a messenger app.
SSU counterintelligence officers exposed the perpetrator in advance, documented her contacts with her handler, and detained her while she was photographing the perimeter of a factory power facility.
A smartphone with Google Maps marked with potential targets for the Russians was seized from the suspect at the scene.
SSU investigators informed the woman that she was suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
The perpetrator is in custody without the right to bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As reported by Ukrinform, the SSU exposed a woman who headed a hospital in the Luhansk region and joined the Russians, embezzling more than ₴5 million in budget funds.
