Alaska summit can help only if it forces Putin to stop killings, says Trump’s spiritual advisor

Pastor Mark Burns, spiritual advisor to US President Donald Trump, is convinced that the meeting between the US and Russian presidents in Alaska will be successful if it leads to increased pressure on Putin in case he refuses to stop killing people in Ukraine.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Ukrinform on Monday.

“The Alaska summit can only help if it delivers greater consequences for Putin if he doesn’t stop killing Ukrainians,” Burns said.

The pastor emphasized that he strongly supports the people of Ukraine. In addition, Burns continued, the US president has also demonstrated that he is not “soft” on Putin.

“He shut down the pipeline, deployed nuclear submarines to key regions as a warning, and made it clear he has not been nice to Putin,” the US presidential adviser noted.

Burns also pointed out that the current US administration has imposed penalties on India in the form of 50% tariffs for purchasing cheap Russian oil.

At the same time, Trump’s adviser noted that the US president’s statements about a possible exchange of territories between Ukraine and Russia will also put pressure on Russia, as it will also lose land.

“President Trump said, he will know within the first two minutes if a deal can be done. He is not wasting anymore time on Putin’s lies and delay to stop the killings,” Burns said.

The pastor also stressed that strong leadership means using all tools – economic, military, and diplomatic – to end the war, after which Ukraine will become free and safe.

As reported by Ukrinform, US President Donald Trump said on Monday that an agreement to end the war in Ukraine is possible due to territorial changes in our country. However, according to him, the final agreement will be concluded between Ukraine and Russia, which the leaders must agree on at a personal meeting.

Donald Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin is scheduled for August 15 in Alaska.
