Citizens across Ukraine have voluntarily declared 11,209 firearms and more than 5 million rounds of ammunition to law enforcement.
This is according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ukrinform reports.
“The voluntary declaration of firearms found or received by citizens is currently underway,” the ministry stated. “To date, 11,209 firearms and over 5 rounds of ammunition have been declared.”
Ukrainians can submit declarations at their nearest National Police unit. To do so, individuals must present the weapon along with a set of required documents: a written application, passport, identification code, proof of residence or registration, and a 3.5 x 4.5 cm photo. Once submitted, police will review the application and issue a decision.
As Ukrinform previously reported, more than 1,000 firearms were declared in Kyiv alone by the end of July.
