Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that both bilateral and trilateral meetings between the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States should be held without any preconditions, including a ceasefire.
He made the statement following an expanded-format meeting at the White House with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“If Ukraine starts setting global conditions for such a meeting — absolutely fair ones, like a ceasefire — then the Russians will come up with a hundred of their own conditions. That’s why I believe we need to meet without any preconditions and consider what the next steps should be on the path to ending the war,” Zelensky said.
He confirmed that Trump had agreed to help organize such meetings, but dates and venues have not yet been set.
“No date has been set,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky stated earlier that Russia wants to first hold a bilateral meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia, followed by a trilateral meeting with the participation of U.S. President Donald Trump.
