The number of victims of the Russian drone attack on Okhtyrka in the Sumy region has risen to 14. The enemy struck the city with 15 drones. An investigation of the massive attack has been launched.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Under the procedural guidance of the Okhtyrka District Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the commission of war crimes under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, on August 20, 2025, between 00:05 and 00:18, Russian forces carried out an attack involving, according to preliminary data, 15 drones targeting the private residential sector in the city of Okhtyrka, Sumy region, the Prosecutor’s Office reported.
Fourteen people requested medical help.
“Among the victims is a family with three children: a 5-month-old, a 4-year-old, and a 6-year-old boy,” the Prosecutor’s Office added.
According to reports, at least 13 houses were damaged or destroyed as a result of the attack.
Prosecutors are currently working with other law enforcement agencies to document the consequences of the attack.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the Okhtyrka District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region.
Earlier, Ukrinform, citing the Sumy region police, reported 12 casualties as a result of a night attack on the Okhtyrka community.
