Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov to discuss Ukraine’s readiness to open negotiation clusters for EU accession.

She said this in a post on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“I had a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. Ukraine has fulfilled all the technical requirements and is ready to open the first three negotiation clusters with the EU — ‘Fundamentals,’ ‘Internal Market,’ and ‘External Relations.’ As early as September, the EU will have the opportunity to decide on opening the first cluster. This will be an important step in supporting Ukraine’s path toward European integration. We also emphasize that Ukraine and Moldova should move forward together — and we appreciate that Bulgaria shares this position,” Svyrydenko wrote.

She also mentioned that education was discussed during the meeting.

“Bulgarian language education in Ukraine will continue. This is an important element of our mutual respect for national communities,” the Prime Minister added.

Svyrydenko also thanked Bulgaria for its assistance in restoring Ukraine’s energy system, as well as for supporting supply diversification and energy security projects.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko stated that by the end of the year, Ukraine, together with the European Commission, will conduct an analysis of the alignment between Ukrainian legislation and EU law, and will be ready to begin accession negotiations across all six clusters.
