President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting in Kyiv with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which he stressed his gratitude to the Alliance for its support — particularly the PURL program, which enables Ukraine to purchase weapons from the United States.
That is according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“Today, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is in Ukraine. During our meeting, we discussed, first and foremost, what next joint steps of ours can provide Ukraine and all of Europe with greater security and bring the real end of the war closer,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized the importance of the PURL program, which enables Ukraine to buy weapons from the U.S.

“The PURL program is already operating. Mark, thank you very much for this initiative — it is very strong. The program enables us to purchase American weapons with funds provided by partners. Our European partners have already contributed $1.5 billion to this program. Soon, new participants will join. We are grateful to every partner,” the President stressed.
According to Zelensky, the PURL program enables Ukraine to purchase critically needed systems, particularly air defense.
“First and foremost, these are Patriot systems and their missiles, HIMARS, and other weapons,” he added.
The President stressed that it is important to ensure the program grows in both funding and effectiveness every month.

“On average, this amounts to $1 billion per month. Mark and I discussed that it could be a billion, maybe one and a half billion per month. This requires effort. We also talked about how to attract more countries to this program,” Zelensky noted.
As reported, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is currently visiting Ukraine.
