Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk and Chairman of the Defense Committee at Germany’s Bundestag Marcus Faber have discussed cooperation in the field of defense and the development of joint enterprises.

Stefanchuk said this in a post on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

According to the parliament speaker, “Germany’s leadership in strengthening Ukraine’s air defense system is crucial. Just as is the further strengthening of our air defense. And now it is important not only to transfer the systems, but also to regulate their use against Russian military targets.”

Stefanchuk said he had thanked Faber “for the visit, solidarity with and support for Ukraine in this difficult time.” He also emphasized the importance of further defense support.

“We also raised the topic of cooperation in the defense sphere and the development of joint enterprises in the defense industry. In this aspect, the expansion of guarantees from the federal government to German investors in Ukraine is important. The possibility of sending German instructors to Ukraine was also discussed,” he said.

According to Stefanchuk, “special attention was paid to cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Bundestag, which is definitely an example of successful parliamentary diplomacy.”

“I emphasized the importance of interaction between [Ukrainian and German] defense committees,” he added.
