Galushchenko, Lorkowski discuss procurement of distributed generation equipment

Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko and Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkowski have met and discussed the procurement of distributed generation equipment through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Energy Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, Galushchenko briefed Lorkowski on the selection of locations, where gas turbine and gas piston plants can be installed.

Meanwhile, Lorkowski mentioned that, following the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund is expected to receive new donor contributions.

“The parties discussed the possibility of purchasing the corresponding equipment at the expense of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which was established in spring 2022 at the initiative of German Galushchenko and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. Currently, the total amount of donor contributions to the Fund (transferred and declared) is more than EUR 545 million,” the report states.

In the course of the meeting, special attention was paid to the logistics issues related to the delivery of power equipment from partner countries to Ukraine, as well as the protection of energy objects.

A reminder that, at a high-level meeting of the G7+ Coordination Group to support Ukraine’s energy sector in Berlin, additional assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector was announced, totaling more than USD 1 billion.
