Yermak, Blinken discuss NATO summit and Ukraine’s energy security

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed Euro-Atlantic integration, strengthening defense capabilities, energy security and other important issues with Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The meeting took place on Tuesday in Washington, according to Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesperson at the U.S. Department of State, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“They spoke about a number of issues, including the upcoming Washington NATO Summit and allies’ intention to bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership and helping to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend against Russian aggression,” Patel said.

According to him, the conversation also touched upon energy security and efforts led by the G7 group of nations to increase the resilience of Ukraine’s energy grid and energy systems.

A separate topic of conversation was Ukraine’s efforts to defend its northern and eastern regions amid the recent Russian offensive.

As Ukrinform reported, the day before, Andriy Yermak and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov visited Turkey to meet with the country’s defense minister.
